Back To the Drawing Board (BTTDB) is an ongoing skill-building drawing class for artists and sketchy types of all levels, including beginners!

It is a four-week class that repeats quarterly. In this class, we target a specific drawing technique each quarter: the Fall session will focus on copying master figure and portrait drawings, with an overview of pencil and charcoal techniques, shading, and working with value. 

The remainder of the year, the quarterly classes will continue and include classes on landscape sketching, copying master drawings, still life drawing, and more.

Best for adults.

Art Class for Stress Reduction

September 2, 9, 16 & 23, 2027

The Art Center of Ramona

In this class, you will create your own journal and learn calming art techniques to soothe your creative soul.  We will create a journal, then fill it with stress-reducing art. You will learn a bookbinding technique for your journal.  Then we will practice different art styles and techniques each week that you can carry into your routine journaling after class.  Each lesson will help you understand your own creative process.  Art Styles will include neurographic drawing, mandalas, and just doodling.  It’s all good!

All levels welcome. The class is designed for adults aged 16 and over. 

 

Cost: $60

All supplies, tools, and materials will be provided for class.

Wild Wire to Wearable Fused Glass

Jewelry making with glass and wire opens a world of creative possibilities. After two decades of exploring techniques, I am excited to share my favorite discoveries with fellow glass and jewelry enthusiasts through these hands-on workshops!

Beginners welcome; all materials provided. We start with forming a silver bail to be embedded between the layers of glass, choose glass colors you like, and work in some wire or other extras. Top with clear glass, and it's ready to fire. Advance to etching dichroic glass and painting on glass with liquid glass.

Plein Air Painting meets on Wednesday mornings for four weeks of plein air painting.  The group meets at a new location each month.  Each month the class focuses on a topic or process of Plein Air sketching.  Students work at their own pace and learn how to improve their skills by direct painting and group critique at the end of each class.

Paper Pop Ups for Cards and Journal Fun with Marsha Cook

Why buy expensive cards when you can learn to make your own!?!  It’s fun, rewarding, and entertaining to learn these techniques.

Oil Painting Techniques

Online Class

This class will help students improve their painting by learning how to create strong compositions, improve technique, and solve problems through self-critique. Students work independently on their own studio projects during the week and submit photos of their work for the online critique.

The class includes a PowerPoint lesson on oil painting techniques, followed by the online critique session. The Zoom format is especially valuable for critique with live digital examples, annotations, and group discussion of student work.

Reworking- Altered Books Workshop

This class welcomes anyone curious about giving old books a second life as vibrant works of art. Together, we will dive into painting, collage, drawing, cutting, and reinventing books to uncover surprising new creations.

There is something magical about creating together. That is why I am offering this class again, inviting past participants to continue their journeys and welcoming newcomers ready to discover the art of altered books.

The class is designed for adults aged 16 and over. 

 

Cost: $25

Class materials will be provided, but if a student has any supplies they are excited to use or would like to share, they are welcome to bring them in.
