Second Saturday Family Art Series

We are pleased to offer this program free to the public thanks to a grant from an anonymous donor. Registration is required, as space and supplies are limited. Please follow the instructions below. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Join Lyn Feudner for a class session that will encourage participants to sketch every day.  Begin a habit of daily sketching, and you will have fun finding new ways to express yourself and find joy in your creativity.  Yes, everyone can draw!   People of all ages are encouraged to give this a try.

Making Puppets with Artist/Instructor Heidi Schlotfeldt

Mandalas and More

Accompanied by live music, Nancy will guide you through a chakra balancing meditation, which will facilitate you to clarify your intention and create your “own” personal and unique mandala using art paper, colored pens & pencils, and watercolor pencils.

Altered books with

Altering books to create art journals and using them to explore new ways to stretch and grow an art practice are among Sandra Thomas’ favorite things to do. This class is for anyone who is interested in recycling old books into new art. In this class, we will explore painting, collage, drawing, cutting, and reworking old books to create something new and unexpected.  Supplies will be provided, but if anyone has things from home they would like to use or share, they are welcome to do so.  Let’s make a mess and have some fun!

Precious Metal Clay with Helen Munroe

Discover the fun and versatility of bronze metal clay in this FREE Second Saturday Series class with Helen Munroe! Students will learn how to form, texture, refine, and finish bronze clay to create their own personalized metal pieces.  This hands-on class is perfect for beginners and returning students alike. You can make jewelry, charms, pendants, earrings, keychains, pet tags, or other small metal creations—your imagination is the limit!

Woven Wall Hanging Workshop

In this two-and-a-half-hour session, we will focus on creativity, resourcefulness, and fun! You will learn the fundamentals of weaving, from wrapping your loom and drafting a design, to a variety of tapestry techniques.  We will explore structure and image building.  Kathleen Cook will guide you through each stage of development of your one-of-a-kind woven artwork. Materials will be provided.  Feel free to bring any materials from home to add to your unique woven wall hanging.

Chia Critters: Hand Built Ceramics

Join Megan Carter for a fun, creative ceramic critter to plant later with chia seeds!  You’ll design, sculpt, and glaze your very own ceramic critter! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn simple hand-building techniques to create an adorable creature of your choice, then finish it with colorful low-fire glazes. Once fired, you’ll take home a unique, living piece of art ready to grow fresh sprouts!

Come and create your own imaginative costumes using paper, cardboard, fabric, paint, and more.  Artist and teacher Cindy Dodson will show examples and demonstrate ways to be creative with costumes!

Junk Jewelry Owl
with Kathi Rothe

Artist Kathi Rothe will instruct participants in assembling junk jewelry and other small trinkets to create an image of a cute owl.  Have fun choosing eyes, a beak, feathers, ears, and wings from a large collection of costume jewelry and other artifacts!
